Coordination EU
European assistance programmes receive their funds from Brussels, however the programmes are mostly coordinated by experts on site. This ensures funds are used efficiently and purposefully. The Euregio Rhine-Waal has a coordinating function for several European assistance programmes.
The Euregio Rhine-Waal has the role of a regional management for the INTERREG IV A-Programme Germany-Netherlands. She is responsible for advising applicants and assessing projects. In addition, the joint INTERREG secretariat is seated in the Euregio Rhine-Waal. The secretariat conducts the implementation of the INTERREG programme from the coast of the North sea to the Lower Rhine. It supports the Ministry of Commerce of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia with governing the assistance programme.
The German-Dutch administration unit Euregio Rhein-Waal is Lead Partner in the INTERREG IV B Northwest Europe project „DEMARRAGE“.
The Euregio Rhine-Waal and the INTERREG IV C Contact point in North Rhine Westphalia work closely together on the realization of the INTERREG IV C-Programme.
The EU aims to support the cross-border labour market with the assistance programme EURES (European Employment Services). Regional EURES-activities are coordinated by the Euregio Rhine-Waal.
The Euregio Rhine-Waal plays an active role in the European information network EUROPE DIRECT as a central information point. She provides citizens in the border region with the latest information from Brussels and answers questions about Europe.
