A survey by the Niederrheinische Industrie- und Handelskammer

The Niederrheinische Industrie- und Handelskammer (IHK) is conducting a survey on the impact of border controls at the German-Dutch border.

The IHK notes that checks have been taking place at the German-Dutch border since 16 September 2024, introduced against a backdrop of heightened security concerns and rising irregular migration. These checks have since been extended for a further six months beyond 15 March 2026. The IHK has already received individual feedback on this matter from various stakeholders along the border, who report that problems are arising.

The aim of the IHK’s survey is therefore to identify the specific consequences of these measures for businesses’ operations – particularly in the areas of logistics, supply chains and cross-border movement of people and goods, including trade and tourism.

By taking part, you will help the IHK gain a clear picture of the current situation. The IHK will then forward the results to the relevant authorities to initiate possible improvements.

Participation is open until 27 April.
