Euregio Council meeting in the Municipality of Bergen well attended

The Euregio Council meeting took place yesterday at De Klaproos in Siebengewald, in the Municipality of Bergen. During the meeting, the Euregio Council bid farewell to the Dutch Euregio Ambassador, Prof. Dr Paul Sars. In addition, farewells were bid to several Euregio Council members who will not be returning following the Dutch local council elections, and the new members of the Euregio Council and the Executive Committee were welcomed. Finally, the ‘REBORN’ project idea for resilient municipalities, a brochure for residents and the ‘Grenzenloos Landschap – Grenzenlose Landschaft’ project were also presented.

New Euregio Profile Schools

The ‘Euregio Profile School’ designation can be awarded, upon application, to schools that pay particular attention to the neighbouring language and culture in the border region. On 17 June, the moment finally arrived: the festive presentation of the certificates to the schools at the Gesamtschule Emmerich.

Coming soon: podcasts on the TRAM project!

Last Monday, 1 June 2026, five new projects were launched under the Interreg Deutschland-Nederland programme! These organisations are not deterred by national borders and view the differences between the countries as an opportunity for collaboration, knowledge-sharing and the development of technologies that benefit both nations.

Learning without borders: New Euregional Keuzedeel (elective modules) for vocational students

So-called Keuzedelen (elective modules) are an important and flexible component of vocational training in the Netherlands. They offer learners the opportunity to deepen or broaden their knowledge and skills in line with their interests and future plans. As part of the Interreg project Euregio Mobility, the ‘Euregional Exchange and Cooperation’ Keuzedeel (K1493) was developed through collaboration between six Dutch vocational colleges (ROCs) and two district authorities. From February 2026, this Keuzedeel can be incorporated into the curriculum of any vocational training programme.

Floods Bring Us Together: Our Region, Our Future

The Small Projects Fund under the Interreg VI Germany-Netherlands programme is once again supporting a cross-border initiative: on 6 March 2026, the project ‘Hochwasser verbindet: unsere Region, unsere Zukunft’ was officially approved. The occasion marks the centenary of the great Rhine flood of 1926.

Spotlight on the Interreg SHAPE project: innovations for healthy soils and sustainable agriculture

During a visit to Soil Valley in Giesbeek, the Economic Committee of the Euregio Rhine-Waal, which also acts as a programme partner in the Interreg Deutschland-Nederland programme, gained insights into the Interreg project SHAPE (Soil Health Check and Practices) as well as into cross-border cooperation on innovative solutions for soil and water technologies.
