Information session for new Euregio Council members well attended

Last Thursday, nearly 40 new Euregio Council members attended an information session at the Euregio Forum in Kleve. The aim of the event was to prepare the new members of the Euregio Council – who were appointed following the North Rhine-Westphalian local elections last September – for their work on behalf of the Euregio Rhine-Waal.

Euregio Chair Hubert Bruls warmly welcomed all participants and expressed his delight at the high turnout. He hoped to welcome everyone present regularly to Euregio meetings and activities from now on.

Andreas Kochs (Managing Director) and Heidi de Ruiter (Deputy Managing Director) then explained the structures and responsibilities of the Euregio Rhine-Waal and, in particular, the Euregio Council. Following a short networking break, Honorary Consul Freddy Heinzel gave an entertaining talk on the political structure and culture of the Netherlands.

On Thursday, 8 October, a similar event will be organised for the new Dutch members of the Euregio Council in the run-up to the Dutch local elections on 18 March.
