Whether it is the visual impact on the landscape caused by the construction of a wind farm, changes to traffic flows resulting from the building of a new road, or odour nuisance from intensive livestock farming: in border regions, the effects are often not confined to a single country. To provide practical support to residents and authorities who wish to have a say in construction projects near the border, the German-Dutch Commission for Spatial Planning (DNROK) is now presenting a new brochure. This was made possible in part by the Germany-Netherlands Interreg Programme and its programme partners, and co-financed by the European Union under the title ‘Spatial Compass: Orientation in the Border Region’.
