New Euregio Profile Schools

The ‘Euregio Profile School’ designation can be awarded, upon application, to schools that pay particular attention to the neighbouring language and culture in the border region. On 17 June, the moment finally arrived: the festive presentation of the certificates to the schools at the Gesamtschule Emmerich.

Following a welcome address by Kristin Pohl, headteacher of the Gesamtschule Emmerich, and a speech by the mayor of Emmerich, Claudia Lindlahr, the awards were presented to the (re)certified schools by the head of department at the Bezirksregierung, Sylvia Wimmershoff.

Not only did the Euregio Rhine-Meuse-North and the Euregio Rhine-Waal offer their warm congratulations to the schools, but the Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf was also delighted to be present on this day and to contribute to the festivities with some amusing facts about the Dutch and Germans.

At the end of the event, there was a guided tour of the exhibition ‘Euregional education at our school’, organised by several schools (Städtische Gesamtschule Kempen, Gesamtschule am Lauerhaas, Berufskolleg Kleve, Gymnasium Straelen, Liemers College).

The following schools received their certificates during this festive gathering:

• Leni-Valk-Realschule, Goch

• Gesamtschule am Forstgarten, Kleve

• Berufskolleg Kreis Kleve, Kleve

• Gesamtschule Emmerich

• Liemers College, Zevenaar

• Eligant Lyceum, Zutphen

The Gesamtschule am Lauerhaas (Wesel) has once again been awarded a five-year certification, and the following schools had previously been certified as Euregio profile schools:

Leegmeer Grundschule (Emmerich), Gymnasium Rheinkamp, Europaschule (Moers), Gesamtschule Globus (Duisburg), Kevelaer Comprehensive School, Schermbeck Comprehensive School, Lauerhaas Comprehensive School (Wesel), Christophorus Primary School (Kranenburg), Metameer College Boxmeer, Geldern Vocational College, Joseph-Beuys Comprehensive School (Kleve), Euregio Secondary School, Kranenburg and Rheinberg European School.
