New members appointed to the Executive Committee of Euregio Rhine-Waal

The autumn meeting of the Euregio Council took place on 20 November at the Kamper Hof in Rheinberg. During the Euregio Council meeting, farewells were said to the members of the Executive Committee Peter Hinze (former mayor of Emmerich) and Thomas Ahls (former mayor of Alpen, also vice-chairman of Euregio Rhine-Waal). Both gentlemen had decided not to stand for re-election as mayor in the local elections last September. During the meeting, the Euregio Council also bid farewell to the German Euregio Council members who did not return as Euregio Council members after the local elections.

Stephan Reinders, Mayor of Bedburg-Hau, succeeds Peter Hinze on the Executive Committee and represents the municipalities in the district of Kleve. Nadine Bogedain, Mayor of Sonsbeck, succeeds Thomas Ahls and represents the municipalities in the district of Wesel. Both mayors are looking forward to taking their places on the Executive Committee of the Euregio Rhine-Waal, and the Euregio Rhine-Waal is looking forward to a pleasant working relationship.

Annemarie Fellinger (Mayor of Montferland), Georg Koenen (Mayor of Weeze) and Ludger Staymann (Mayor of Alpen) have been appointed as new members of the Financial Control Committee.

During the meeting, the budget for 2026 was also adopted and members were informed about the state of affairs with regard to border controls, the Interreg project TRAM (Transnational Labour Migration), the 80 Years of Freedom subsidy programme, the new Border Region Agenda and various other activities such as the 30th anniversary of the Euregional Healthcare Forum.

After the meeting, the councillors were given a guided tour of the Underberg company's Stammhaus.
