Promoting cross-border cooperation

IHK Duisburg and the Euregio Rhine-Waal in conversation.

On 12 February 2025, Ms Eva Folkerts, head of the Kleve-based office of the IHK Duisburg, Wesel, Kleve zu Duisburg, paid a working visit to the Euregio Rhine-Waal. Together with Andreas Kochs, secretary of the Euregio Rhine-Waal, current affairs in the field of cross-border cooperation were discussed.

The focus was on the many possibilities and opportunities that Interreg Deutschland-Nederland offers to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Particular attention was paid to supporting cross-border projects and thereby supporting companies in the border region. The Interreg programme enables SMEs to benefit from cross-border partnerships and increase their innovative capacity as well as their market presence.

The service and comprehensive services of the Border Information Point at the Euregio Rhine-Waal for residents and companies in the border region were also highlighted. The GrensInfoPunt provides businesses with valuable knowledge and helps border residents with questions about working as an employee or self-employed person, living and studying abroad.

The conversation between Ms Folkerts and Andreas Kochs revealed that both organisations are highly motivated to promote cooperation between Germany and the Netherlands. In addition, the importance of building and expanding a strong network for cross-border cooperation was again emphasised.

We thank Ms Folkerts for the valuable discussion and look forward to a continuation of the successful cooperation.
