What do the Euregional labour market and European agriculture have in common? Cross-border cooperation!

In April, meetings were held by all three committees of the Euregio Rhein-Waal. Two of these meetings focused in detail on projects from the Interreg Deutschland-Nederland programme.

On Monday, 13 April, the meeting of the Committee for Cross-Border Understanding took place at the BerufsBildungsZentrum Kreis Kleve e.V. The BerufsBildungsZentrum Kreis Kleve e.V. is the lead partner in the Interreg project GrenzTalentFit. The project was presented during the meeting of the Committee for Cross-Border Understanding.

GrenzTalentFit focuses on reaching people who are significantly distanced from the labour market, thereby contributing to a more inclusive Euregional labour market and counteracting the shortage of skilled workers. However, the reintegration and social participation of this group, which is fundamentally capable of working, requires support from various bodies. In the project, the Berufsbildungszentrum Kreis Kleve is collaborating with the Gemeente Lingewaard, RSD de Liemers, and the job centres of the towns of Emmerich am Rhein and Kleve. They are taking action at both a practical and methodological level.

On Wednesday, 15 April, the meeting of the Economic Affairs Committee took place at Royal Eijkelkamp B.V., a project partner in the Interreg SHAPE project. In this project, the lead partner RheWaTech – Rhein-Waal Institut für Technologie – and its project partners are developing innovative measurement and analysis systems that will be integrated into a novel monitoring system. The system enables farmers to assess the current health status of their land at any time. The aim is to ensure that European agriculture is able to meet the challenge of supplying the population with healthy and affordable food whilst remaining economically viable, despite the consequences of climate change and steadily rising production costs.

On Thursday, 16 April, the meeting of the Finance and Projects Committee subsequently took place at the Haus zu den fünf Ringen in Goch. It is the oldest manor house in Goch (circa 1550) and was thoroughly renovated a few years ago. The building houses the tourist information centre, the town archives, the KulTOURbühne and the largely digital Heimatwerkstatt of the Heimatverein of the Stadt Goch.
