The theme? 80 years of freedom - life in the border region. What would the border region look like if the Dutch and Germans could not live in freedom (together)? What can the Dutch and Germans learn from each other? And what will the next 80 years look like? More than 600 German and Dutch schoolchildren took up the challenge this school year and immersed themselves in the subject!
Last November and December, for example, schoolchildren had the opportunity to take part in a workshop day at the Freedom Museum in Groesbeek. Three workshops were offered - living goose board, a tour of the museum and a workshop by Wil Willemsen - which provided inspiration and cross-boundary exchange among the schoolchildren.
In the cultural centre DRU Industriepark in Ulft, the pupils finally heard from presenter Trixie Hölsgens (Germany Institute Amsterdam) whether their entry - think of an exhibition, a film or a memory game - had won a prize. Not only who had won, but also the appearance of freestyle footballer Guido and the arrival of the mayor of Overbetuwe, Patricia Hoytink-Roubos, were successful and nice surprises.
Meanwhile, are you also curious which schools won a prize? You can find out here:
